World Egg Day

Or something. A bunch of my "blogs I love" have come out with posts honoring the Egg today: Chezlarsson.com and Semi-swede.com . I asked HenCam what she thought, and she replied that World Egg Day, October 12, is sponsored by big egg companies, and that she spotted the message "factory farms are ok." Great. Nothing is sacred, not even the egg. Or the work of the chickens and those who lovingly tend them.....

HenCam has a lovely post "Let's Take a Walk" that shows the woods in New England autumn at their most relaxing and fetching.  A happy antidote to the debates raging in my head over eggs and politicians.

What a great New England walk -- beautiful pictures of the woods and the chickens. I walked along the Potomac yesterday morning between Gravelly Point and the 14th St Bridge on the VA side and was blown away by the fall sun and leaves and colors. I saw one bush with the most gorgeous blue, aqua, and purple berries on it, flaming red giant poison ivy, and a stand of peeling river birches whose smooth bark felt like my own skin, when I was younger and firmer!

Hey, Linda...I've been wanting to get a picture of poison ivy vining up a tree. (Is "vining up" a real expression or just a Midwesternism, with which my speech is rife?)
